Canada’s Steven Dubois wins short-track gold

Canadian speed skater Steven Dubois claimed victory in the 500-metre race at the Milan Cortina Games, bringing his A-game to the ice. This is his first major win at the winter games.

The big win: Steven skated to gold, crystalizing his Olympic dreams. Overjoyed, he shared his exhilaration on winning the most coveted medal following a nerve-racking race.

Prior to his gold in Milan, Dubois had shown remarkable performance in past Olympics. His journey to this win was filled with dedication, hard work and resilience.

Despite his win, his heart was heavy due to his underperformance in the men’s 1,000 metres event at the same games. But, the 500-metre gold redeemed his spirits.

The brothers from Netherlands, Melle van ‘t Wout and Jens van ‘t Wout, followed his lead, securing silver and bronze respectively. This race marked a special milestone for Melle as it coincided with his birthday, making his podium finish an exceptional birthday present.
