Danish Pension Fund AkademikerPension Transitions away from U.S. Treasuries
Danish pension fund to ditch U.S. Treasuries, says Greenland not the cause
AkademikerPension intends to sell off its U.S Treasuries, worth an estimated US$100 million. This decision comes in light of the poor financial health of the U.S. government.
The fund asserts that the move is not instigated by political disagreements between the U.S. and Denmark over Greenland. Rather, the focus lies on the U.S.’s weak fiscal outlook, pushing them to seek alternative methods for liquidity and risk management.
Investment Director Anders Schelde underlines that the decision was primarily motivated by fiscal factors and was not significantly influenced by U.S.-Europe tensions.
It should be noted that AkademikerPension oversees a total of 164 billion Danish crowns.
